Prof. Simone Santini
Simone Santini is professor of Computer Science at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He got a degree from the University of Florence (Italy), then he moved to U.S., where he achived a M.Sc. in 1996 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1998, both from the University of California (his advisor was Prof. Ramesh Jain). From 1999 to 2001 he worked as a software designer and investigator at Praja Inc.. Since 2001 he came back to academic, working at University of California - Sand Diego as a researcher. In that period he focused his research on multimedia semantic, federate databases, and structured data.
Since 2005 he joined the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His recent research activity his mainy focused on the following topics:
- Mechanisms of interaction with databases of events (mainly videos)
- Context models for multimedia data access systems
- Theoretical models of novelty and diversity in information retrieval systems
