Curriculum Vitae
Battista Biggio received the MSc degree, with honors, from the University of Cagliari, Italy, in december 2006, and the PhD in computer science from the same university in march 2010, discussing a thesis on Adversarial Pattern Classification.
Since 2007 he has been working for the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Cagliari, Italy, where he is now a post doc in the research group on pattern recognition and applications leaded by Prof. Fabio Roli, working on the security of machine learning and pattern recognition methods.
From May 12th, 2011 to November 12th, 2011, he visited the University of Tuebingen, Germany, and worked under the supervision of Dr. Pavel Laskov. The research activity focused on the security of machine learning algorithms, in particular, on learning in the presence of adversarial contamination of the training data.
Research Interests
- Secure / Robust Machine Learning / Pattern Recognition; Adversarial Classification (application of theoretical models in real domain applications like spam filtering, IDSs, biometrics);
- Multiple Classifier Systems (MCSs);
- Pattern Recognition techniques for filtering spam emails (and, in particular, image spam).
